Mahomes Meltdown

Mahomes Meltdown: Was He In The Wrong?

The Patrick Mahomes Meltdown…

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs just lost their minds after suffering a MAJOR LOSS to the Buffalo Bills, who are circling the wagons once again. This may be the best rivalry series in football right now and once again it did not disappoint!

However, what did disappoint was the Chief’s wide receiver room for what feels like the 10th time this season. On what was quite possibly the greatest play I have ever seen, Travis Kelce chucked a lateral 20 yards backward to Kadarious Toney streaking down the field. Toney would walk untouched into the endzone in what looked like a game-winning touchdown, but as Chiefs wideouts do, he made a major mistake.

Toney had lined up significantly offsides prior to the snap.

The play would get called back and the Chiefs would eventually turn the ball over on downs. Patrick Mahomes then proceeded to lose his mind entirely on the sidelines. Mahomes is usually one of the calmer, more collected dudes in the league, but this was wild.

Mahomes headed straight to the bench and spiked his helmet off the bench.

This was only the start of the charade for Mahomes. He then had to be held back by his teammates while he was screaming at the refs, furiously blaming them for this loss.

Mahomes believed that in the heat of the moment, the refs should not have thrown a ticky-tacky call like they did. He said in his post-game presser:

"Obviously it's tough to swallow, not only for me, but just for football in general," Mahomes said. "To take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, and who knows if we win? But I know as fans you want to see the guys on the field decide the game."

Now here’s the thing, if the refs shouldn’t have called that offsides, should they have called the pass interference in the Super Bowl that secured a Chiefs win? It seems to be a double-edged sword for Mahomes’s argument here.

Mahomes wasn’t the only Chief mad though. Coach Andy Reid expressed frustration with the officiating, describing the late offside call as “a bit embarrassing for the National Football League.”

Now this is the first time the Chiefs have been spited by the refs, but throughout this entire season, they have been favored like no other (maybe except the Eagles). The Chiefs have been bailed out more times than I count by referees this season. And break down every single moment from this season in the Youtube Video below!! Someone show this to Mahomes, maybe make him feel a bit better this Monday Morning…

Sorry Chiefs fans, but I’m gonna have to deem this hypocrisy as another case of Foul Play…
